REIKO CHIBA

REIKO CHIBA (千葉麗子)

Reiko Chiba has worn many hats over the course of her career in entertainment and media, including that of model, gravure idol, television star, voice actress and J-Pop vocalist. She first appeared in 1991 as a teen idol, establishing the nickname “Chibarei,” before making her initial acting debut in the 16th Super Sentai television series, Dinosaur Sentai ZYURANGER (1992), in which she portrayed Mei, the team’s lone female warrior.

Chiba was a featured voice actress in video games, appeared as a nightly radio personality, and had numerous acting stints on television, including a guest appearance on Ninja Sentai KAKURANGER, prior to retiring from the entertainment industry in 1995.

Despite what has been widely published on US fan sites, she did not voice-dub the role of Kimberly in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when the series was repurposed for release in Japan, though she would return in 2014 to once again voice the character of Pteraranger in the Kyoruger vs. Go-Busters movie, Great Dinosaur Battle! Farewell, Eternal Friends. Since 1999, Chiba has been a certified yoga instructor, well-known for teaching master classes and for her series of instructional books and videos.
